At 31 y-o, TOMOKI SANDERS (they/them), discovered at this year’s Winter JazzFest in New York, holds great promise. Child of the legend Pharoah Sanders, who has been making their mark for the past 5 years with Kassa Overall‘s supergroup, an active member of the new generation of New York musicians they present during their Tomo Tuesdays, a vector of openness and diversity thanks to their dual Afro-American and Japanese culture and their non-binarity, TOMOKI SANDERS is a free electron who greedily explores Great Black Music, urban music, electronic music and the avant-garde.

It was only after all these peregrinations that Tomoki Sanders produced their band’s first album, to be released in 2026. They recreates the obvious link with the rich hours of the Impulse! label and, with all their fantastic personality, rushes through the door re-opened by Kamasi Washington and Shabaka Hutchings.
